Meet the Team – 2022

Anna Ghilardi

Anna Ghilardi is a current MSc student in European Governance at University College Dublin. She decided to attend this programme after completing her Bachelor of Science in Economics and Business Economics in Utrecht, Netherlands. She is thrilled to participate to the Brussels Insider project as she is committed to broaden the interest of young people in the European Union.

Caoimhin Cavallo

Caoimhin is studying a masters in European Politics and Policy at University College Dublin. He graduated in 2019 from Trinity College Dublin with a B.A in Sociology and Social Policy. His research interests include EU politics, international relations and deliberative democracy.

Henning Wolff

Henning is a current student of European Governance at both the University College Dublin and Utrecht University. After graduating from Passau University in Governance and Public Policy he went on to gather hands-on experience at Saxony’s liaison office in Prague or at the European Parliament in Brussels. He hopes to utilize his keen interest in EU public affairs and lobbying to support the Brussels Insider.

Máire O’Connor

Máire O’Connor is a current MEconSc student in University College Dublin. She decided to study this course to develop her skills and expertise in the European area as part of her work in the Department of Enterprise, Trade and Employment, where she hopes to incorporate her engagement with Brussels through this project her in day-to-day work.

Anne Jouve

Anne is currently in the first year of her Masters in European Governance at University College Dublin. She’ll undertake her second year at Utrecht University. She obtained a Bachelor in International Relations in Paris and is keen to pursue a career in the EU Institutions, in the field of Foreign Affairs. Very happy to be part of this European project with the Brussels insiders team!

Cathal Mc Parland

Cathal Mc Parland is a current MEconSc student in European Public Affairs and Law at University College Dublin. Cathal is a recent graduate of Ulster University having studied a BSc in Politics with Criminology. Cathal has extensive expertise in communication and negotiation and is excited to apply his skills in developing Brussels Insider.

Jan van den Elshout

Jan van den Elshout is a student of the dual Master’s degree in European Governance in University College Dublin and Utrecht University and holds a bachelor’s degree in political science and Economics from University College Roosevelt. He has a passion for working in international environments and therefore he is excited to use his analytical and technical skills to help tackle the great public policy issues facing the European Union.

Marta Grosso

Marta Grosso is currently pursuing a Master of Science in European Politics and Policy at University College Dublin. After studying Political Science and International Relations for her Bachelor’s degree, she decided to delve deeper into European politics, with the aim of playing an active role in achieving a more integrated EU. She is looking forward to being part of the ‘Engaging Brussels’ project in order to spread knowledge about what the EU does and works on a daily basis. In particular, she will be involved in the Radio Show section of the project.

Michal Krawczyk

Michal Krawczyk is a current MEconSC student in European Public Affairs and Law at University College Dublin. He has decided to study this programme due to his interest in the sphere of European politics and inter-state relations. He is thrilled to be a part of the Brussels Insider engagement project as he has a keen interest in making the elaborate, often distanced, perspective of the EU closer to the average person.

Nola Byrne

Nola is a MEconSc student in European Public Affairs and Law at University College Dublin. Nola previously studied in France where she obtained a double degree in law and political sciences on the one hand and philosophy on the other hand. She is excited to get to know more about the European Union by meeting actors of the EU. Nola is part of the social media team.

Oliver Engelter

Oliver Engelter is currently pursuing a double degree Master in European Governance at University College Dublin and Utrecht University. He holds a bachelor’s degree in International Affairs from the University of St.Gallen and has research interest in European policymaking with a focus on political economy and climate policies.

Ronan Farrell

Ronan Farrell is a current MEconSC student in Public Affairs and Law at University College Dublin. With a background in second level teaching, he holds a higher diploma in Economic Science. He has a keen interest in the economic effects of EU actions and how this effects the decision-making process.

Roma Fleischer

Roma Fleischer is a MA student in European Politics and Policy at University College Dublin. She is passionate about EU politics in the context of Eastern Europe and human rights. She is excited to be a part of the Brussels Insider Radio Show and discuss improving engagement with European Union.

Ruth Delaney

Ruth Delaney is a student on the MA European Politics and Policy programme at University College Dublin. She graduated Dublin City University last year with a BA in Journalism. Ruth is most looking forward to being a part of this project to apply her research and communication skills to uncover as much as she can about the EU institutions and the people that are part of them.

Sabri Khelil

Sabri is currently in his first year of his double masters degree in European Governance, hosted by the University of College Dublin and Utrecht University. He holds a Bachelor’s degree of Politics and International Relations from the University of Kent with his third year spent at Indiana University. Sabri is one of the current hosts of the Brussels Insider Radio Show, partly due to his experience of hosting “The Yes Fam Radio Show with Sabri Khelil” for a year, and mostly due to some of his interests which include European affairs, and relations between citizens and European Union (EU) institutions. He is aspiring to work in the field of foreign relations, particularly interested in representing the interests of a public or private organization and advising its policies at the EU level.

Virginia González

Virginia González is a current MSc student in European Governance at University College Dublin. She decided to study this course after enjoying her undergraduate studies in International Relations in Spain. She is excited to be a part of the Brussels Insider team as she is willing to make understandable the European Union to the general public.

James P. Cross

James P. Cross is a Jean Monnet Chair and Associate Professor in the School of Politics and International Relations at University College Dublin and co-founder of the Connected_Politics Lab @ UCD. His research agenda addresses various aspects of international and comparative politics, with a specific focus on policy-making in the European Union (EU).
